SILC Alumni Member (former Postdoc Member, University of Delaware, The Infant Language Project) and member of our Spatial Network.

Currently, Dr. Verdine is the Director of Learning Sciences at SmartyPal, where he is creating education-focused technology products. He is also an affiliated Assistant Professor of Education at the University of Delaware, where he continues to research and publish on spatial learning.

Dr. Brian Verdine was a postdoctoral researcher in the School of Education at the University of Delaware working with Roberta Golinkoff on the Shape-Up Project.  Shape-Up explores the development of preschooler’s geometric and spatial skills to understand how these skills are constructed and inform the design of early interventions.  Brian received his B.S. in Psychology from The Pennsylvania State University where he first explored his interest in spatial research with Lynn Liben.  He received his Ph.D. in Developmental Psychology from Vanderbilt University where he worked with Georgene Troseth exploring children’s and adult’s learning from television and video games.
